CLASS STYLES

Hatha Yoga
A complete practice incorporating yoga postures (asana), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation and yoga nidra or relaxation. There will be a combination of dynamic and static yoga postures building both strength and flexibility. A strong focus is placed upon breath and mindfulness. This practice is suitable for all levels as poses can be modified with props.

Yin & Restore
Yin yoga is a gentle practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. During the longer holds your muscles are allowed to relax deeply, as you are using props rather than your muscles to support your body. There will also be a focus on the breath and breathing practices to restore and reset and end with a yoga nidra to enable a deep physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Suitable for all levels.

Gentle Yoga
A slow and relaxing Hatha yoga class including breathing, gentle flowing movements, passive and supported poses, and yoga nidra or relaxation to finish. This is a perfect beginning yoga class that is also appropriate for those working with limited mobility, or who prefer a softer, gentler approach to yoga. Suitable for all levels.

Yoga & Ayurveda – Introducing the Elements Workshop

Sunday 21st January 1.30 – 5.30 PM

A workshop with Gyani that unites the ancient wisdom & practice of Ayurveda with yoga, to bring you an integrated approach to your health and wellbeing.

Ayurveda is the science of how to live a conscious optimal life. It is the world’s oldest, natural system of health care and medicine dating back 5,000 years. It is sometimes called the sister science of yoga, in that both of these practices, can be traced back to the ancient Sanskrit texts of the Rig Veda.

Ayur means ‘life’ and Veda means ‘knowledge’, so Ayurveda is often translated as the ‘science, or knowledge of life’. The basis of Ayurvedic philosophy is that the intelligence of the inner and outer worlds is inextricably connected. The five basic elements of ether, air, fire, water, and earth, combine in the body as three characteristic blends (Tri-Doshas): Vata (ether and air), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha (earth and water). These constitutions have particular characteristics and traits and by understanding what our particular dosha is and which dosha is out of balance, we can then take actions that help to bring us back to homeostasis.

NB: This is the first workshop of a series on Ayurveda. Suitable for all levels.

INCLUDED:
~ Discussion on Ayurveda and the elements
~ Opportunity to discover your Ayurvedic constitution
~ Relaxing yoga practice with Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation to balance the five elements in the body.
~ Afternoon tea including healthy Ayurvedic snacks.

Investment: Earlybird $90 if booked before 29th December. Then after $110 or $100 concession.

Register: Booking in advance essential as places are limited. Some yoga experience required. Book online or can email yoga@hmt.org.au for more info.
